Clyde Vanel is an attorney and community advocate from Cambria Heights New York. He currently runs his law practice in Cambria Heights where he focuses on business law, will and estate planning for the residents of Southeast Queens. Clyde previously served as the Chief of Staff for NY State Senator James Sanders Jr where he planned and directed political, policy, administrative, financial and operational activities for the local Queens and Albany Offices.
Clyde is the President and founder of the New York Metro chapter of the Black Pilots of America, Inc. The organization trains and exposes the community and youth to the field of aviation. Through the organization many youth and community members have been trained in pre-flight of an aircraft, aviation-related trainings, flights in aircraft and an air balloon ride.
Since there is a need for community centers and meeting spaces, Clyde’s office in Cambria Heights serves as a community center and meeting place for many organizations, civic groups, worship services and more.
Clyde has mentored many youth and people in New York City. He has mentored young men with Eagle Academy in the Bronx and in Queens and the Young Mens Rites of Passage with Allen A.M.E.
Clyde has worked extensively in political community empowerment. He has helped many community members become Democratic County Committee Members and informed the community regarding elections and political matters.
As an attorney, Clyde has stood up against the FAA and Port Authority to force them to conduct air and noise studies to address the environmental effects airport on the surrounding community. He also led the fight to keep the neighborhood of Cambria Heights together during the redistricting process.
Clyde is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
